I lived in the woods alone
My purpose was all I owned
The sun on my face each day
No obstacle in my way
A swim in the pond I called my own

My house made of silver pine
My axe carved a steady line
I tried to improve the day
Boards and shingles a dwelling made

The small bed my space permits
A stove and a place to sit
